On Tuesday the 24th of February I was lucky enough to visit the White Cube gallery in Bermondsey. The exhibition I saw there was by an artist called Christian Marclay. Marclay has an interest in the relationship between light and sound and his exhibition was a remarkable feast for the senses.
This exhibition focused on the wet sounds which is also one of the sounds of the act of painting. His work is quite cartoonish with splatters of paint interspersed with text, reading words like Splosh and Splat. It is a very colourful exhibition.
The star of the show had to be an entire room space in which is a work called “Surround Sounds” where the walls are projected on to with colourful, cartoonish animations. The animations would travel around the four walls completely immersing you in the experience of light and sound. The photo on the right is a still from the work called “Surround Sounds”.
I would highly recommend this exhibition to anyone who is doubtful or confused as to contemporary art and its many guises. When done well it is exciting and stimulating and it is free to attend and suitable for kids of all ages.

My name is Terence Milligan, I am in my second year of a Ba degree course at The London Metropolitan University. I currently volunteer with Art Reach and am involved in a number of projects with them. I came to know Art Reach through my use off, and affiliation with, other projects that help people with mental health problems into arts and the community. My current involvement with Art Reach came about as result of me taking on an Employability Award Scheme at London Met which involves me volunteering in the community as part of the awards criteria. I am more than happy to be volunteering with Art Reach as they have proven to be very supportive of myself and will be to others who need the support, and the teaching that they offer, to achieve what they are capable of achieving.
I cannot stress enough how projects like Art Reach have helped me to realise my aims of learning to be an artist and the strides I have made over the last few years in all aspects of my life.
